Rob Kearney (born 26 March 1986) is a professional Irish rugby union player, who currently plays for Leinster and University College Dublin RFC. Kearney played with the Louth GAA minor (U18) Gaelic football team in the All-Ireland Minor Football Championship. .[2] He also played schools rugby with Clongowes Wood College and attends University College Dublin

[edit] Leinster Career

Kearney made his first start for Leinster in 2005, in the Celtic League, in the 22-20 loss to the Ospreys at Morfa Stadium, Swansea. Kearney would go on to earn 32 caps in the competition, scoring 8 tries, with 3 penalties during a period in September, 2006, when usual place kicker, Felipe Contepomi was injured. Kearney then played in his first Heineken Cup game in the 19-22 loss against Bath in the RDS later that same season. It was the first of 10 caps, scoring 4 tries in the process.

He was called up to the Ireland squad for the 2008 Six Nations Championship. [3] [4]

He was first called into the Irish training squad for 2005's autumn internationals and toured with Ireland A in the summer taking part in the Churchill Cup. His current club is University College Dublin, with whom he won the U-20's McCorry Cup in 2005, beating Trinity College in the final.
