[edit] Early life
Anderson was born June 13, 1977 in Edmonton. He graduated from Airdrie's Bert Church High School in 1995 and went on to earn a BA in Communications specializing in Journalism from Brigham Young University in 2003 and an LLB from the University of Alberta in 2006. While he was a law school student, Anderson co-founded the group 'Students for a Stronger Alberta', which advocated for provincial democratic reform and more meaningful participation in Alberta's democratic process amongst young Albertans. After law school, Anderson practiced corporate litigation at one of Canada's largest law firms, Borden Ladner Gervais LLP.
[edit] Political career
Anderson first sought public office in the 2008 provincial election in the constituency of Airdrie-Chestermere. In that election, Anderson received 63% of the vote and a 7012 vote margin of victory, which was the most votes of any constituency south of Edmonton and came in 4th in the province behind only Premier Stelmach (Fort Saskatchewan-Vegreville), Minister David Hancock (Edmonton-Whitemud) and MLA Dave Quest (Strathcona - which borders Premier Stelmach's constituency). On March 12, 2008, Anderson was appointed as the Parliamentary Assistant to the Solicitor General and Minister of Public Security. He also currently serves as a member of the Standing Committee on Public Safety and Services and the Private Bills Committee.[1]
[edit] Personal life
Anderson is married to Anita. The couple has three sons: Derek, Bryce and Spencer.
