Statue of Robert E. Lee in Lee Chapel in Lexington, Va., showing him asleep on the battlefield. The sculpture, by Edward Valentine, is often mistakenly thought to be a sarcophagus or tomb. Lee is interred elsewhere in the Chapel, however. Photo by Jan Kronsell, 2000
