- September 26 – Part of an approach ramp to the Can Tho Bridge in Vietnam collapses, killing dozens of construction workers.
- November 1 – Replacement of New Brunswick's Trans-Canada Highway segment (Route 2) and the short Route 95 connection to Interstate 95 with four-lane freeways is to be completed.[1] This will extend the continuous North American freeway system east to near New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.
