Template talk:Rlk

Comment on old version:
ml stands for Merge Link. This is designed to avoid situations when a subject is merged into a larger article and then it becomes very tedious to link to. For example, Hufflepuff was once its own page. Now it is(rightly) a redirect to Hogwarts Houses. However, section redirects are not possible(YET), which means going to Hufflepuff takes me to the top of Hogwarts Houses when I really primarily want the Hufflepuff info. To make a link to that info specifically(and not have it look stupid), I have to use the form [[Hufflepuff#Hufflepuff|Hufflepuff]]. This template will simplify things. In place of my example, you can now do {{ml|Hufflepuff}}. Jolly linking. Superm401 | Talk 17:09, July 24, 2005 (UTC)
Section linking is possible now, therefore reuse this template for uniformity with Meta (is compatible)).--Patrick 15:29, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
This referred to the name "ml".--Patrick 16:02, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- Don't see any consensus for this despite it totally changing the meaning of the template. I don't know what you mean "section linking is possible now", but I doubt it's relevant. Of course, section linking has always been possible. Perhaps you mean section redirects, which do reduce this template's utility, but only if they're used. Many redirects still don't, making this template handy. Superm401 - Talk 20:32, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
