The RKM engine or RKM motor (see also de:Schapiromotor) is a type of rotary engine designed by Boris Schapiro, Lev Levitin and Naum Kruk. [1] [2] [3] [4] Unlike the well-known Wankel engine its compression ratio is not limited by the geometry of the rotating piston, adding to efficiency and making it suitable for use as a compact diesel engine.[5] Essentially the same mechanism can be used in reverse as a compact and efficient gas compressor.[6]
