Riverchase Middle School

Riverchase Middle School is located in Shelby County, Alabama. Approximately 1100 students attend between grades six through eight under principal Charles Smith. Its mission is "to provide optimal learning experiences, which continue to promote the development of each child within a safe, secure learning environment." Students promoted to ninth grade will attend Pelham High School

Riverchase Middle offers all core classes: History, Math, Science, and English. Physical Education is also mandatory all three years along with an elective.

Riverchase offers various electives.
[edit] Exploratory
Exploratory is a year round elective in which the student will take a course in art,Business & Marketing, Spanish, Computer Essentials, and Family Dynamics.

If the student does not wish to take Exploratory he/she may take band. The student will play for the director and the director will decide which instrument suits the student best. If the student has never played an instrument nothing changes. He/She will be taught how to play. The band has concerts throughout the year. Band is is taught by Ms. Moore

Choir is popular among students at Riverchase. The students will learn different things about singing and will learn to perform together in a group. The choir has concerts throughout the year, as well. The Choir is taught by Mr. Duke.

Students in grades six through eight have the opportunity to be a teacher, office, or media center aide.

The school offers various sports including but not limited to: Boys' and girls' basketball and soccer and Boy's American football.

1st Period: 7:50 - 8:41
2nd Period: 8:46 - 9:35
3rd Period: 9:40 - 10:29
4th Period: 10:34 - 11:23
5th Period: 11:28 - 12:17
6th Period: 12:22 - 1:11
7th Period: 1:16 - 2:05
8th Period: 2:10 - 3:00
The school day ends at 3:00 p.m.
