The first people of European descent to settle in what is now Rindge 
came in the middle of the seventeeth century. One of the earliest, if 
not the earliest, was Lieutenant Abel Platts. 

That's lacking context. Who was Platts? He's not mentioned anywhere else. Why is this important?
