[edit] Fade to Black

Lots of poor information here, particularly that "Misc. Information" part. This needs to be cited or deleted.

I heard somewhere that Metallica got over 2000 letters from fans who decided not to kill themself after listening to "Fade to B

I don't mean to sound like a dick to you guys, but if you're going to write about Metallica, do your fucking homework. Let me get this stuff organized: First of all, "Trapped Under Ice" IS about freezing under a lake of ice, because it describes a person trying to escape from inevitable death while sealed under a frozen lake. Especially with the chorus, "Freezing, can't move at all. Screaming, can't hear my call, I'm dying to live. Cry out, I'm trapped under ice." Next up to feel my impending wrath is that bullshit about how "To Live Is To Die" isn't an instrumental. Technically, it is PREDOMINANTLY an instrumental. The words spoken in it could be interpreted as lyrics, since they are in the book, but since you don't hear them until the last 7/8ths of the song, it can be classified as an instrumental. Got it? Once again, sorry for being a dick, but I needed to correct you guys. I know how hard it is to get information, and information from a REAL fan of the music is the best source to cite of all. Thanx! Do we really need this type (the above message) on tripe on Wikipedia?

"No release from my cryonic state"

What drowning and freezing? The guy is being in a cryonic state, probably against his will, while he is still conscious.

Dude it is just a metaphor. The song doesn't have an article anymore, so screw it.

I do need to say that per James H himself Fade to Black was written about the theft of one of their Marshall Stacks, back in the pre kill 'em daysUnseemlyWeasel 02:37, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pure Rubbish

This and all the other Metallica articles are utter, poor rubbish (dogshit would be a more appropriate word). They contravene NPOV all over the place, and are riddled with unsourced statements. Original research is also all over the place - all the lyrical interpretations need proper sourcing and everything. LuciferMorgan 16:21, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

I think a good place to start the clean-up is to remove all the "controversy" sections. They're really just pointing out that -- gasp -- people have different reactions to the same album, and -- gasp -- some of them go ahead and express a negative reaction. If different reactions to the same album was a rare thing, then I think a "Controversy" section would be justified. However, since everyone has an opinion and everyone is affected differently by an album, there's really no controversy at all. Such sections are simply useless. Pillsbur 02:38, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Escape/Fight Fire with Fire

Who deleted the article for Escape? Could someone write it again?

Escape isn't a notable enough song to have it's own article. Maybe Creeping Death and FWTBT but not Escape. Not that good of a song anway. Also, I noticed someone made an article for Fight Fire with Fire, but it wasn't very good, so I cleaned it up a bit. It is slightly more formal, but I'm not aware of the finer points of Wikipedia, so someone else should pick it up a bit more. Someone might just delete it, but I think there is enough info out there to make it a complete article.

[edit] cover
