[edit] Date Project - Manual stage complete!

Spoke too soon, there are about another 28,000 dates that need doing.

I am spending some time tidying up dates (not bare years), using search and replace. Inevitably a few problems can occur, as search and replace is only moderately smart. To mitigate this I check the diff of each page, and I think I catch most errors. I also try to improve my methods to stop errors recurring. If you've caught an error, please either fix it, let me know or (ideally) both. You may have been very quick, I may have missed it, or I may have had some kind of event preventing me checking, regardless I am happy to hear from you.

This is to allow date preferences to work. If you have them set you will see 11 September and September 11 (11 September and September 11) the same way. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers).

For a good example see this diff or this one.

Some of the strange stuff I have found.

• [august 15 [1910]]
• December 1919,December 1, 1910
• (15 March 2003)
• March 15, 2003
• 21 October 1797 1790s
• January5
• 19 January
• 17 January 2004
• 03 April 1997
• 12 July 1922
• I848 (capital I not 1)
• 5. March
• 10th april
• July 14

And 01 July II which is badly scanned "on July 11".
