[edit] Tuning?

Hi there. Are you guys sure that he uses an open D tuning? I've been watching the videos of him live for about an hour, and none of them work with a "d", especially not the famous "Handsome Johnny" performance.

He has personally stated on his webpage that his tuning is in fact open D. Check it for yourself at www.richiehavens.com

I could be mistaken, but I believe the reason he performed for so long at Woodstock had less to do with the fact he was receiving the ovations and more to do with the fact that the traffic problems caused problems getting many of the performers in place and ready to perform. His set was easier to set up because it was just him, his guitar and the guy on the bongos. Jmcachran (talk) 01:32, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
