[edit] Prisons
"Due to political pressure, he was given amnesty and released in 1964" While I am not familiar with the details of Wurmbrands release from prison, in 1964 virtually *all* political prisoners in Romania were released in a general amnesty. Someone more knoledgeable on the subject might want to correct me - or the article.merryXIV 23:33, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- The phrase was in the text when I gave it a combover. I cannot tell you if it is true (ie: if political pressure played a part in his release), and, although what you say is very reasonable, I couldn't tell you if he was released because all the others were released. For now, I'll just change it to "he was released", pending verification. Dahn 04:54, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Pastor Wurmbrand and Sabina, My Adopted Grandpa and Grandma!
Pastor Richard and Sabina Wurmbrand took me into their hearts, home and family many years ago. I am blessed along with the others they loved as their own: (Brother Job, Lidia, Maya )
You see they adopted me as their grandaughter and taught me about the love of God. They were true believers in Jesus their Messiah and cared for the broken hearted and needy of this world. You would think one would be full of sorrow after having suffered so much in prison but Pastor Richard's face shone and he was quite funny. He was the wisest man I have met and the kindnest. Sabina, my Oma, I owe so much too. She adopted me as her own and encouraged me to "take in an orphan".. In 2002 we adopted our baby from China. Thank you Oma!
The photo on this webpage was taken from my webpage. I made this page for the Wurmbrands over 10 years ago: http://members.cox.net/wurmbrand/wurmbrandbio.html.
Just my thoughts this late Sunday evening.
Shalom Havarim, as Pastor Richard would say. He spoke over 10 languages

[edit] "Wurmbrand and his wife were converted to Christianity in 1938 through the witness of Christian Wolfkes, a Romanian Christian carpenter"
"Through the witness" means "according to", or is something specific to the evangelic cult? Dpotop 13:10, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- Cult... Heh. Dahn 14:06, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- Witness is a term which here means "preached the gospel to".
[edit] Controversy
It is amazing that it is hard to find controversial information on the net about Richard Wurmbrand, because his books are full of things that would make controversy if brought to light. Just to give examples, he has a very strange interpretation of Jesus' sacrifice in the first chapter of "100 Prison Meditations", he has preached pantheism, condemned capitalism, equated wealth with damnation, glorified poverty and suffering, engaged the reader in Kabalistic and numerological interpretations, recommended Eastern meditation, and I can detect a definite anti-Western tone in his style. Any other Christian having evidenced such things would have provoked accusations of heresy and personal attacks from reactionary Christians by now. All these things are evidenced in "100 Prison Meditations" and "Victorious Faith" and no reaction from the conservative elements. Simply amazing. Also, his "Marx and Satan" is a dubious conspiracy theory. There ought to be a controversy section. Jason
- Well, the fact that he intervened in Namibia on the side of Apartheid is in the text, but if an NPOV recension of that book "Marx and Satan" were found, it would be an interesting addition to the article. I myself was only able to find this (sorry guys, it is in German):
- In fact, if this quote from Wurmbrand is correct, Wurmbrand is here putting not only Hitler and Stalin in the same camp, but also the freemasons and Liberation theology. In other words, his intervention in Namibia AGAINST persecuted Christian ministers was part of a pattern. I am going to delete the (citation needed) in the text, as there is ample evidence in the Colin Winter article about Wurmbrand's behaviour there.--Paul Pieniezny (talk) 14:50, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Life in Istanbul?
http://www.blessingyouthmission.org/magazines/2001/may2001body.htm It says there that he lived in Istanbul from 1913 to 1919, which would be age 4 to 10. Does someone know about this definitely? The linked page sounded convincing because his father died in 1919, the year of the epidemic. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.135.74.180 (talk) 02:33, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template.
