How exactly did this man end up with five barrels in his name? His father only had three... —Ashley Y 04:15, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

Brydges and Chandos both came from his wife, whose maiden name was Brydges and who was the daughter of the last duke of Chandos. Nugent came into the family through his mother (it was her maiden name). Temple came from his paternal great grandmother - and from the fact that he was Earl Temple (I imagine that Temple was added to the subject of this article's father's name when he became Marquess of Buckingham, thus hiding the Temple name from ordinary view. Grenville was the original surname. john k 07:25, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
