I just wish to point out that Canudo's book in 1911 was titled "Birth of the 6th art", not 7th. The expression "seventh art" appeared only in 1922, when he created the "Gazette des 7 arts". In 1911, he considered that five arts had preceded cinema (architecture, painting, sculpture, music and danse). Later, he added poetry -- hence "sixth" then "seventh". Yours sincerly, S. de T.
