Richard Vanigli (born 1 June 1971 in Forlì) is an Italian footballer who currently plays in the Serie A league for Empoli F.C.. He is best known in Italy for having been the player who infamously tackled and injured Francesco Totti in a Serie A league match against A.S. Roma in 2006 inflicting a broken fibula which Totti recovered from just in time for Italy's victorious run at the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Journalist and broadcaster Gabriele Marcotti described him as 'just a terrible footballer' before Empoli's match against Milan at the San Siro on 21 October 2007. Vanigli helped Empoli keep a clean sheet and gain a surprise 1-0 win.
