Richard Swedberg

Richard Swedberg is a Swedish sociologist at Cornell University. Swedberg has been a contributor to developing a sociological approach to the analysis of the economy.
This "new economic sociology" draws on the sociology of organizations—as well as on Max Weber. He has written on the works of Weber and Schumpeter in particular. His most important work is Max Weber and the Idea of Economic Sociology (1998) and (with Neil Smelser) Handbook of Economic Sociology (1994, 2005).
