Richard Pearce is Associate Director for Academic Affairs with the Illinois Board of Higher Education. After a number of years as a journalist living and working in East Asia, he embarked on a teaching career that included appointments with Peking University, The University of Colorado at Denver, Tsinghua University, and most recently Illinois State University, where he served as Assistant Chair for the Department of History. After several years with Illinois State, Richard was invited to join the Illinois Board of Higher Education, the state’s coordinating board for post-secondary education. In his current position, he has oversight responsibilities for the Illinois Articulation Initiative and the Course Applicability System and program review and analysis responsibilities related to four-year public and independent institutions.
