Richard K. Rainey

Richard K. Rainey is a Republican politician from California. He was serving as Sheriff-Coroner for Contra Costa County in California's East Bay when he was elected to the California State Assembly in 1992, winning with 58% of the vote in a Democratic year. He easly won reelection in 1994 and narrowly picked up a Democratic-leaning state Senate seat in 1996. Although he was popular, was known as a hard-worker and had a relatively moderate voting record, Rainey was nevertheless defeated for reelection in 2000 by Democratic Assemblyman Tom Torlakson.
