Richard Hertling

Richard Hertling is Acting United States Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Legislative Affairs. He reports to United States Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty. Born and raised in New York City, Hertling is a graduate of Brown University and The University of Chicago School of Law. He is also former Chief of Staff to Sen. Peter G. Fitzgerald (R-IL) and a longtime veteran of Capitol Hill.

Hertling has been determined to be involved with the dismissal of U.S. attorneys controversy. He conferred with and corresponded with Kyle Sampson in 2007 regarding the firing of the U.S. attorneys.1
