Richard D. Freer is the Robert Howell Hall Professor of Law at Emory University School of Law in Atlanta. He is a leading expert in civil procedure and federal jurisdiction, whose academic writing is cited with frequency by state and federal courts. He is a regular commentator in various media, including television, concerning topics related to federal courts and litigation.
Freer is author or coauthor of eleven books on law, and is the only person to be a contributing author for the two major treatises on federal jurisdiction and procedure. He is an award-winning teacher, who has received the highest teaching honor bestowed by Emory University. He has been a national lecturer for BAR/BRI bar review for over twenty years.
