[edit] How I made Image:Casito-edits.gif

I wish I could say I had a spiffy script that did the job for me. But, I don't. :) What I have is pretty easy though. I look at nominee by groups of 500 edits. For example [1]. I cut/paste the information into a spreadsheet, and the spreadsheet does almost all the rest. I have to do a bit of manipulation with the results, and craft the chart depending on whether an average edits line would make sense. For User:Casito it wouldn't have made sense; his average is too low since he's been here since 2003. For User:Journalist, it did make sense (see Image:Journalist-edits.gif. After that, it's just a matter of exporting the graph to an image editor (Adobe Photoshop in my case) and uploading it. I've got it down to take just a few minutes to do each candidate. I only do it for candidates with less than 2,000 edits. That's not because I think you have to have 2,000 edits to be an admin (see User:Durin/Admin voting measures for my subjective measures, if you're really bored :)). I do it because I've noticed that many nominees under 2,000 edits face opposition and I think people who suffer from editcountitis need to have something to analyze the data in a more complete way rather than just an arbitrary level of edits (what, at 1,999 they don't qualify but at 2,000 they automatically become imbued with admin-appropriate personalities?). I've done five of these so far. The response has been good. --Durin 22:02, 26 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Your comment on JRM's page

Tim, I wasn't quite so explicit at WP:AN, but I meant to imply the same thing. Would you be interested in commenting there? Bishonen | talk 22:24, 26 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Suic

I don't deserve credit for the Suicide thing. The issue was brought up by User:Bmicomp, the notice written by User:Nickptar (my personal Wikipedia model). I just copied it from Suicide Methods to Suicide. If you feel strongly about the template, you should go to Talk:Suicide_methods where some people are arguing in good faith that it's a bad idea - I tend to disagree, but want to formulate my thoughts before stepping in. [edit] Source of content

I just want to drop you a note, telling you not to get DES and my comment on the wrong side; obviously, the article in question (and probably many more which are not tagged as stubs) could be expanded, but imho only by someone with a greater interest or knowledge in the topic (perhaps living there, or having family connections, or some other cause), but to the average reader, this article gives as much as he wants to know (for the moment, at least). There has been a vociferous dialogue going on for months about when an article ceases to be a stub, and so far no consensus has been reached....happy editing :)) Lectonar 12:59, 6 September 2005 (UTC)

PS.: if it's categorized accordingly, it will get the appropriate attention anyway Lectonar

[edit] Translation assistance

I hope that you can help me. On this page[2] is a section of text in Euskara (Basque) that reads:
Artzai Txikiyak eman biaizkit
lau bat arrazoi fuertiak:
ire ardiyak nere soruan
eiten dituzten kaltiak,
iru lau aldiz eman zizkatek
punta berriyai kortiak...
itxiko dizkat zelaiko langak
eta zelaiko atiak!

I was wondering if you could translate this to English for me. I am specifically interested in the word "kortiak" at the end of the sixth line. Any help greatly appreciated. Vivafelis 20:16, 9 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] My RFA

Thank you very kindly for your support for my nomination. I promise your trust will not be misplaced; I may occasionally be slightly buzzed with power, but never drunk. ;) ยท Katefan0(scribble) 22:31, September 12, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] The charter is here. (Relating to Esperanza)

Hello Rhymeless, the Charter for Esperanza is up. Take a looksie :) Redwolf24 (talk) 02:55, 19 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Esperanza made less bureaucratic

Hello again, I have (unilatterly) taken away the 'assembly' idea, as per my reasons at that edit summary and per Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Charter. I have left the admin general, as some leadership is good. Now, all you have to do is be a member to establish consensus, the whole assembly idea is gone. Also, I have added an advisory committee, of four members, with limited power besides watching over the admin general and making sure he doesn't do anything stupid. Please look at the ammended charter, and I would love a comment. Redwolf24 (talk) 00:27, 21 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] The last time I'm spamming you all with Esperanza stuff

Hello Rhymeless. As you may or may not know, there have been some troubles with Esperanza. So now, as a last ditch to save the community, please vote at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Reform on all neccisary polls. P.S. I'm very sorry for spamming you all with these messages, and this will be the last time. I recommend putting ESP on your watchlist. Cheers and please look at that, let's stop the civil war then.
