[edit] Alan Alda

I added 'The Aviator' to Alan Alda's filmography. I fail to understand why you removed it. Please explain. 209.52.173.50 19:05, 2 Jan 2005 (UTC)

I went back later and had a better look. Sorry, my bad. 209.52.173.76 01:28, 3 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Your anagram

While i hesitate at becoming a critic of so light-hearted a form as the anagram, (and of a form i am so lame at):

IMO the near-anagram is an offense that demeans the medium, and shows less accomplishment than the perfect anagram of a not quite natural phrase. (And even if being rhymeless is an analog of not being able to carry a tune, or deficient in anagramatic skill, it's a long reach from "rhymeless" to "here's a lame anagram to prove it" and few will get that possible joke.) Have you considered replacing

(Er...let's shimmy)

with

(Er...le's shim'y)

?

(I also note the possibilities of anagraming

(User alk Er...let's shim'y)

Hmmm, lame perhaps:

(Er...let's shim'y Us klear )

  • Ah, sorry if I've been a bit misleading on it. I've actually been using an anagram of Tim Rhymeless (who I'm named after, and, eventually will be changing my user name to.) Haven't gotten around to it yet. My previous anagram, Methyl Remiss, was achieved the same way. In the meantime, I think I might change my signature to reflect that. Any further suggestions? (and what led you to notice in the first place?) - User:Rhymeless

Just idle perversity, mostly, i guess. My love is a master of anagrams, whereas i for instance didn't pick up on the fact that the I was also unaccounted for! I think i thot it was a perfect anagram at first, and admired the concept, then got huffy when i realized it wasn't (not suspecting that i just didn't know what it was an anagram of. ... Dunno if that answers your question! Tnx in anycase [smile]. --Jerzy(t) 02:24, 2005 Jan 14 (UTC)

[edit] Hendrick Antoon Lorentz

Hi Rhymeless,

I saw your stub on Hendrick Antoon Lorentz. It appears that this is a misspelling of Hendrik (no c) Antoon Lorentz. A page for him already exists under Hendrik Lorentz. However, there seems to be a problem with that page, it may consist of copyrighted material (see the talk page, talk:Hendrik Lorentz). I propose to try and clear up that problem, merge any information that may be in the stub but not in the article and then remove the stub. What do you say? Best,

Joost

P.S. I don't have a user page yet, so let's continue this discussion on Talk: Hendrik Lorentz

[edit] Translation

Any chance I can get you to help at all with the enormous (and growing) list of requests for translation from German (at WP:TIE)? -- Jmabel | Talk 04:15, Feb 16, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Spanish Translation of the Week

I would like to revive this project. I noticed that you've added yourself to the list of available Spanish-to-English translators. Are you interested in working on Spanish Translation of the Week? — J3ff 06:16, 21 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] I give up

OK, I give up! I can't decipher your comment on Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship/Matt_Crypto: "Amceohrsuhy Uegdahwahcuriyebian-caht" ... any hints? ;-) — Matt Crypto 16:29, 9 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Sean Russell

I haven't read anything by Sean Russell; thanks for the recommendation, I'll check him out. I find I have to be "choosy" with fantasy because, much as I love when it's done well, so much of it turns out to be so bad; I mean, Sturgeon's law applies to all genres, not just fantasy, but with fantasy, I find that the crap 90% generally ends up being really, really crap. Probably because the author is responsible not just for the story, but for the entire world in which it takes place. Binabik80 03:34, 23 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Politics / Debbie Stabenow

I think she is going to get reelected, and perhaps made the majority/minority leader someday (but not now, because she needs to campaign for her 2006/2012 reelections. If she gets reelected in 2012 by a big margin, we can make her the leader.

For now, the best candidate for majority/minority leader to replace Harry Reid is Chuck Schumer (D-NY). The reason that I don't like Reid as minority leader is because he was reelected with a very small margin in 1998. The reason Reid had a landslide victory in 2004 is because the Republicans couldn't find a good candidate. He might face a strong challenge in 2010 (and maybe lose, like Tom Daschle did), and he should campaign very hard. --Lst27 (talk) 01:49, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] cartoon vandal

had noticed before. absolutely fine! Morwen - Talk 08:26, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Lützen

There are no technical problems with ü in titles, even though it looks a bit odd in the URL, but so do ampersands, parentheses and other things included in article titles. Or did I misunderstand you? / up+l+and 15:04, 6 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Neighbourcruft

Thanks for the heads-up on those new, uh, articles. From what I've seen, each of these is best off as a redirect to Neighbours for the time being. Are you OK with that? - Lucky 6.9 03:01, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you!

Thank you for your support on my RfA! I shall attempt to put the shiny new buttons to good use. Incidentally, your description of the idea of Wikipedia made me chuckle -- a friend of a friend described it as "unemployed Ph. D. deathmatch", but I think I like yours better...
