Wikipedia:RFA reform
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Some people say that WP:RFA has gone downhill and focuses too much on negativity, being overly critical to otherwise deserving candidates and making people jump through way too many "hoops" to get anywhere. Of course, given our present backlogs, it never hurts having an extra admin or two.
There is an obvious solution: fight negativity with positivity. If you think RFA is pretty bad, you can help. For instance:
- Support candidates. Adminship is supposed to be no big deal.
- The criterion should be whether you trust the candidate. Try to avoid arbitrary metrics like "must have two years experience and 3000 portal_talk edits".
- Nominate people who would make good candidates!
- Show that you care about their continued growth as as a Wikipedian.
