Reynolds Girls

The Reynolds Girls, Linda (born in 1971) and Aisling (born in 1973), were a pair of sisters from Liverpool, England. They became a one hit wonder in 1989 with the dance pop track "I'd Rather Jack" that started out as a response to critics who ignored the younger Pop acts in the UK at the time.

In 1988, producer Pete Waterman became critical of how radio was ignoring the newer talent, including his own acts on the PWL roster, in favour of established or adult-friendly acts. Siblings Linda and Aisling (pronounced Ash-ling) Reynolds were signed to PWL after giving Waterman a demo. The duo recorded the vocals to the song which colleague Matt Aitken had written, known as "I'd Rather Jack" which poked fun at how older and more established acts got better treatment on the airwaves than their younger peers. The single became a Top Ten hit in the UK pop charts in March 1989.

However, just as the duo were about to go into the studio to do their first full-length album, they split from PWL over creative differences (Waterman later stated that they refused to cancel a pre-booked holiday in order to record and promote their second single, a move he felt was arrogant). They later put out a follow up single, "Get Real", but the record was unsuccessful and the duo would fall off the music radar for good.

After the failure of 'Get Real' Linda went back to Ireland and received a call from a friend from the 'Hitman' days who persuaded her to join a group called 'HYPE' who would go on to support the likes of, 'Take That', 'Alison Limerick', '2 Unlimited', 'Sonia' and 'Oceanic' on tour.
