Rex Ryon

Rex Ryon was an American character actor who sustained a long career making guest appearances on television sitcoms and dramas until his death in 2005.

Born 5 April 1953 in Atlanta, Georgia, Rex graduated from the Baylor School in 1971. While attending Vanderbilt University, he appeared in community theaters in Chattanooga and Nashville, Tennessee and later, Houston, Texas, while attending the University of Houston.

After toiling in obscurity for years, Ryon finally hit the big time when he guest starred on the Cheers episode "The Tortelli Tort" as Rough Looking Guy #1. Spurred on by his big break, Ryon pulled together an impressive string of television guest appearances on shows as diverse as Remington Steele, Matt Houston, and Mama's Family.

His final acting appearance was as Det. Sgt. Joe Dexter in the film Malevolent in 2002.

Ryon died on 19 April 2005 in Los Angeles, California.
