Revolution Renaissance is a multinational heavy metal band founded by guitarist Timo Tolkki after the break up of Stratovarius in year 2008. Tolkki, founder of Stratovarius decided to split up the band after several problems with vocalist Timo Kotipelto and drummer Jörg Michael. He founded Revolution Renaissance to recover the spirit of Stratovarius album "Visions". The studio line up for the upcoming 'New Era' album was Michael Kiske (Helloween, Ill Prophecy, Place Vendome, Supared), Tobias Sammet (Edguy, Avantasia) and Pasi Rantanen (Thunderstone) on vocals, Pasi Heikkilä (45 Degree Women) on bass, Joonas Puolakka on keyboards and Mirka Rantanen (Thunderstone) on drums. Tolkki himself is only one to be included in the permanent lineup, which was announced later as:
