[edit] The Latest

15 Jan 2008. With the exception of a few minor edits, it's been two years since I've written or edited a Wikipedia article, and five years since I created my account.

For the short term I think I'll concentrate on cleanup, mediation, and fact checking.

[edit] User Info before 2008: Ancient History

I'm an engineer in the field of machine vision, which is essentially a combination of computer vision--the academic study of "making computers see"--and industrial automation.

My interests outside of work include writing fiction, philosophy, etymology, jazz, independent comics, and billiards/pool/snooker. I'm quite happy shooting pool using a Schuler carom cue, and I wish I could find a snooker table within 100 miles.

Here's a quick list of articles for which I've written first drafts.

[edit] Miscellany

    • "at the time of writing this, [the 100,000th article on Wikipedia] is Machine vision by Rethunk, started at 05:30 the same morning! (That is, assuming that none of the subsequent new pages are non-articles, which may not actually be true.)" -- from "Wikipedia: 100,000th article" (as of 21 Jan 2003)
