An idealized representation of the four kinds of reserve power and the time intervals after an unexpected failure that they are in use. This image was created by Cedars using OmniGraffle. A PDF version of this image is available here. The diagram itself is based on Figure 2 from a March 2003 report by the Oak Ridge National Laboratory on Spinning Reserve From Responsive Loads.
