Talk:Representation

[edit] formal or informal

I have removed the following text from the article. What does it refer to — law?

In the case of humans, a representation can be:
- formal or informal
- on the behalf of (or approved by) represented subject or without his/her/their permission.
  • JA: Probably should sort out "contractual", "legal", and "political" representation. As a literary agent, counsel, or legislative representative, respectively. Jon Awbrey 16:42, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] colloquial meaning

Represent redirects to here, but this meaning is not currently listed: To "rep" or "represent" is an oft-used colloquialism in urban areas in the United States and other areas around the world. It means to carry the name of a certain area. i.e. Repping one's "hood". (This entry is from Wikipedia...) 69.87.194.148 11:32, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

I got here by looking for explanation and history of that usage, too. If there is any information about it on Wikipedia, I hope someone will find it and fix the redirect(s) and disambiguation page(s) so that it's findable. --dsws 19:15,December 15,1959 (ucl)
