Template:Rename media/doc

This is a documentation subpage for Template:Rename media (see that page for the template itself).
It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page.

Media bearing this template are added to Category:Media requiring renaming. If no suggestion is made for the new name, the media will be added to Category:Media renaming requests.

Usage: {{rename media|new name|reason}}

  • Do not include the "Image:" prefix.
  • This is for media only. For galleries, categories, and templates use {{move}}.

{{rename media|New name.jpg|The image's title is misspelled.}} creates:

It has been suggested that this media object be renamed to "Image:New name.jpg" or another more suitable name for the following reason:

The image's title is misspelled.

This request will be dealt with by a bot and/or a trusted user.
