[edit] Criminal Record section

It is my belief that this section violates the important living persons biography policy, mainly on the account of "do no harm". As is stated in the policy:

Real people are involved, and they can be hurt by your words. We are not tabloid journalism, we are an encyclopedia.
An important rule of thumb when writing biographical material about living persons is "do no harm". Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a tabloid, and as such it is not our job to be sensationalist, or to be the primary vehicle for the spread of titillating claims about people's lives. BLPs must be written conservatively, with regard for the subject's privacy.
When writing about a person notable only for one or two events, including every detail can lead to problems, even when the material is well-sourced. In the best case, it can lead to an unencyclopedic article. In the worst case, it can be a serious violation of our policies on neutrality. When in doubt, biographies should be pared back to a version that is completely sourced, neutral, and on-topic.

As I see it, giving a full list of his criminal offenses actually potentially harms this person. The fact that this has already been done in the Estonian media is irrelevant. The article, without this section, already gives examples of his offenses, and that is enough. I am going to comment out that section and point people to this discussion. If consensus is that it does not violate BLP policy, it can then be reinserted, but for now, it should be left out. Lilac Soul (talk contribs count) 09:49, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

I don't see giving the full list of his crimes as relevant, too. If someone is interested in that, then s/he can go and check it from sources. WP:UNDUE and WP:BLP both might apply. Sander Säde 10:03, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
I do not see WP:BLP problems here, as all of the entries in the list have been proven in courts of law. I see how WP:UNDUE might seem to be a problem, but in fact, Reinmann's whole claim of notability before becoming a politician was criminality, to the point that there's a WP:RS citing his (Soviet-era) raiser stating that no kiosk in Lasnamäe was left untouched by Reinmann. As for harm -- the list, compiled by Eesti Ekspress in Estonian comes up googling for "Rene Reinmann" as number four; number one is Wikipedia, and number 2–3 are subcriber-only news reports. Any reader interested in Reinmann would find it anyway, whether it is on Wikipedia or not.
Let's wait for a day for the consensus to develop. Digwuren 10:44, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

And it might harm a scammer or charlatan to reveal his fraud. Revealing the offenses of a convicted felon is in no way undue harm. If there's mitigating information, add it, but don't remove true and accurate facts. Night Gyr (talk/Oy) 16:21, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
