Renaissance, started in the fall semester of the 2004-2005 school year at Bethel College (Tennessee), with a forty voice choir. From the students in that choir sprang a pep band, drumline, two doo op ensembles, an a cappella quartet and a bluegrass group. These various acts were later mixed in with routine that made up the 90 minute show. Renaissance is the brain child of the Executive Producer Dr. Jeff Clark, and college president Robert Prosser.
Today, Renaissance has quadrupled membership to over 169 students. The choir is made up of about 80 voices, the pep band and drumline has grown to the Bethel College Marching Regiment, the choir now travels with a full rhythm section,(Bass, Drums, rhythm and lead Guitar, and two keyboard players) as well as the Bluegrass, and a cappella groups. The newest subsidiary of Renaissance is the theater program, who christened their arrival with the opening of Oklahoma!.
