[edit] Disputes

I have created a centralized discussion page at User talk:Elonka/Hungarian-Slovakian experiment. If you have concerns about the behavior of editors or the way that certain articles are being edited, please post them there. Thanks, Elonka 06:46, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Notice of editing restrictions

Notice: Under the terms of Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Digwuren, any editor working on topics related to Eastern Europe, broadly defined, may be made subject to an editing restriction at the discretion of any uninvolved administrator. Should the editor make any edits which are judged by an administrator to be uncivil, personal attacks, or assumptions of bad faith, he or she may be blocked for up to a week for each violation, and up to a month for each violation after the fifth. This restriction is effective on any editor following notice placed on his or her talk page. This notice is now given to you, and future violations of the provisions of this warning are subject to blocking.

Note: This notice is not effective unless given by an administrator and logged here.

Rembaoud, I realize that you are making multiple charges, especially about other editors being uncivil and making personal attacks. However, may I point out that in order to improve the editing environment here, it is necessary that you be very civil as well. For example, edit summaries such as these are not helpful:[1][2] I am also concerned about the way that you have been engaging in edit wars on multiple articles, but without participating at the discussion pages. I am not saying whether you are right or wrong as to the content involved. But please, try to behave in a calm and civil manner, which will help a great deal in sorting through these disputes. Thanks, Elonka 22:48, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Rembaoud, I am glad that you are participating at talkpages now, but this doesn't mean that you can post something in a discussion, and then still continue reverting every day. Please, stop all reverts. You are still allowed to fix obvious vandalism, such as page blanking or profanity, but I do not want to see you making any other reverts for at least 30 days. You can still make non-controversial changes. And I do want to see you continue to discuss things on talkpages. But the reverting stops. --Elonka 16:25, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Technically, this was a revert.[3] However, I'm going to let it slide because you hadn't participated on that article before, and you were reverting information that hadn't been changed for a couple weeks.[4] I was also very pleased that you did it in a "correct" way, meaning that you posted an edit summary pointing to the talkpage, and you posted a reason on the talkpage.  :) Please be careful though, as you are on very thin ice. To strengthen your edits, it would be better if rather than just "putting things back", you added information, such as sources, to show that your changes were verifiable. --Elonka 07:07, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] New section

Hi Rembaoud,

I am watching your editings. Although you are an beginner editor you have done lots of valuable work here. Thank you that you are here. Nmate (talkcontribs) 19:29, April 18, 2008

[edit] Identity

Rembaoud (talk · contribs), I see that your account is very new, just a few weeks old, and that you have not created a userpage. And yet, you seem to have a very good knowledge of Wikipedia procedures. Also, your very first edits launched you into these naming issues. What this tells me, is that you have used other accounts in the past. Rather than us playing the SSP and CheckUser game, I would like to just ask you directly: Which other accounts have you used, or are you using, in this topic area? If you are willing to simply be open about it, I am willing to give you amnesty for past actions, provided that you promise to edit non-disruptively from this point forward. Would this be acceptable to you? --Elonka 11:51, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Ján Slota

Rembaoud, I am very concerned about some of your recent additions to the Jan Slota article. Wikipedia has very strict policies about biographical information about living persons, as we do not want articles to be libelous. Any controversial or negative statements about a living person added to an article, or any other Wikipedia page, must include proper sources. Otherwise, please don't add the information at all. Thanks, --Elonka 04:49, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, though instead of using an edit summary of "undid"[5] it would have been better if you said, "Re-adding information, this time with sources". To make your additions even stronger, please review WP:RSUE. Where you are using a non-English source, please quote the source in your reference. Include a sentence or two that verify the information, in the native language, and then include an English translation next to it. This will help other editors to verify the additions. In case there are questions about the reliability of the source, you may also wish to link the source (if it's a newspaper or magazine) to the Wikipedia article about that publication. If there's no English Wikipedia article about it, create one, and link it to the pages in other language Wikipedias about it (if they exist). That would make your contributions extremely strong. :) --Elonka 05:26, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] (proto-)Slovak state and (proto-)Slovakian men

Hi Rembaoud! I tried to remove this satement on an another place but I was not successful in it: [6] I may ask what is your opinion about this sentence?[7] another article: [8]

Slavomir as Great-Moravian (Slovakian) man was written by Tankred.[9]Nitra Principality was written by Tankred of course. Nmate (talkcontribs)

[edit] Feedback

Rembaoud, please try to avoid making comments like this,[10] where you are making personal comments about someone else's character or associations. It's not helpful. Better is to stick to discussing articles and policies. However, I wanted to say "good job" on adding a source to Tihany. I went ahead and added a reference section ({{reflist}}) so it displays properly, and I also reorganized the page a bit. I left notes on the talkpage. Definitely though, continuing to add sources is the best thing you can do on Wikipedia, keep it up!  :) --Elonka 10:49, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi Rembaoud, overall I feel that you are doing much better. You have been making good additions to articles, and participating at talkpages. However, could I please ask you to try a little harder to be civil, especially when dealing with Svetovid? I was particularly concerned at your edit summary here.[11] In the future, try not to refer to specific editors in your edit summaries. Just stick to discussing the article. This helps to promote a civil atmosphere, which can help reduce conflict, and then everyone benefits. :) It was also an issue that you added the information back (technically a revert) without adding sources, but I see that you have fixed that now. You probably don't need to add refs after every word though... Just once at the end of a sentence is usually enough. However, when using non-English sources, could I please ask you to include a quote from the source, as well as an English translation? That will make the information easier to verify. Thanks, Elonka 04:10, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Svetovid just annoys me all the time. Ok, I'll be more polite. --Rembaoud (talk) 17:25, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

I think it is also time to take a good look at this page, these are very easy to choose from and use. Squash Racket (talk) 04:41, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Ok, later. --Rembaoud (talk) 17:25, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Userpage

Rembaoud, would you be willing to create a userpage, at User:Rembaoud? I find that it's something that can help increase trust in confrontational situations. Or is there a reason that you would not like to create one? --Elonka 20:06, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Daniel Tupý

Hi, as I promised, I've made some pictures of the Daniel Tupý monument. You can find them in my newly created gallery. If you'd like me to make some more, just drop me a line ;) CoolKoon (talk) 19:35, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
