Talk:Relative dating

[edit] Archaeology

As written, the article focuses on relative dating in deep time - for geology and paleontology. There are somewhat different concerns for relative dating in recent time. Archaeologists don't need to worry about folding rock formations, but can't assume, for example, lateral continuity of structures or anthroseds. Other relative dating techniques may include seriation and may not include biostratigraphy. Jacob Haller 04:15, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Use of relative age dating in determining the age of sedimentary rocks

In the paragraph in the introduction that discusses relative versus radiometric age dating, a few lines could be added to show how relative age dating techniques when mixed with radiometric age dating techniques can be used to determine the approximate age of sedimentary rocks (which can not be directly dated using radiometric dating since the age attained is of the original grains formation as either igneous or metamorphic material.)
