- Mother Ann Lee (1736-1784) - leader of the Shaker Movement
- Joseph Smith (1805-1844) - founder of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; murdered during run for president in 1844
- Brigham Young (1801-1877) - led movement of Mormonism into Utah
