[edit] History
Michael Paul founded Pack & Send in 1993, after he realised the enormous effort and time required in arranging to have an unpacked personal computer delivered from Sydney to Melbourne. This was the inspiration for creating a convenient packaging service with a retail shop front to service both businesses and individuals. This visionary store would be a one-stop-shop to pack and deliver anything, anywhere, for anyone.
Michael boldly introduced the innovative business model for logistics services by opening the first Pack & Send store on the 17th August 1993. In June 1999, Mr Barry Smorgon, a member of one of Australia’s most successful business families, became an equal partner in the company.
PACK & SEND has exploited its niche market effectively by embracing franchising as its method of expansion. In October 2007, Pack & Send was recognised as the 2007 Australian Franchisor of the Year by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Franchise Council of Australia. To celebrate the win of this prestigious award, Pack & Send published a book called No Limits – true stories about going the extra mile. The book showcases real life customer service stories that have occurred at Pack & Send and praises the commitment of its franchisees who have embraced the company’s ‘No Limits’ culture.
In 2007, Pack & Send announced the launch of a global expansion strategy utilizing the application of a master franchise program. A master franchisee acquires the rights to develop a network of Pack & Send stores in a particular country, underpinned by the training, guidance and support of Pack & Send International Corporate Office.
