Template talk:Reincarnation

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The links for the dif and the article don't seem to work right. Maybe I'm not doing it right, but I'm pretty sure I am. I tried fixing it, but it didn't work. Am I missing something. I was testing it by typing {{subst:reincarnation|Anarchism|http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Anarchism&diff=prev&oldid=68727781}}. Then I tried it like this {{subst:reincarnation|http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Anarchism&diff=prev&oldid=68727781|Anarchism}}. Neither one works. What's wrong, me or the template? • The template. I know next to nothing about template syntax xD. The second is supposed to work. c. tales *talk* 21:26, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

The syntax is the latter, works great now. c. tales *talk* 20:03, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, my test for it didn't work last night, but I had a headache and didn't feel like trying to fix it anymore. Maybe I'll ask someone who has created other templates. Ungovernable ForceThe Wiki Kitchen! 21:08, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

OK, I was able to get the part that shows which page it is to work, but I can't get the part to work that shows the specific diff. I decided to just take that part out. If anyone knows how to do it right, please do so. Ungovernable ForceThe Wiki Kitchen! 06:47, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

The problem is with the = in the web address in the first parameter. If you call it like this:
{{subst:reincarnation|1=http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Anarchism&diff=prev&oldid=68727781|2=Anarchism}}
it ought to work. (= in a template parameter has a special meaning, so it needs to be escaped like this.) --ais523 09:45, 26 August 2006 (UTC) 09:45, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
(I notice that the point is now moot as the template has been changed.) --ais523 11:06, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks ais523. I've re-changed the template so it works as you posted. »ctails!« =hello?= 04:47, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
