Regener-Tonne

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Regener-Tonne (Prof. Erich Regener's barrel) was the name of the first scientific payload for a Rocket to reach high altitude.

Developed from 1942 to 1945, it was supposed to be launched with a A4 (V-2) to examine the high atmosphere in order to improve the precision of the A4. Even though the parachute was tested in the assembly hall of Prüfstand VII in Peenemünde and a mock-up was launched in January 1945, the Regener-Tonne itself was never launched.
