The Recruiting Act 1703 was an Act of Parliament of the Parliament of England. Its long title was "for the increase of seamen and the better encouragement of navigation, and the protection of the coal trade". It provided for the forcible enlistment of able bodied men in the army and navy who did not have visible means of subsistence.
