Talk:REBOL
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is an interesting start.
It's difficult to cover all the facets of REBOL, from the different types (Command, View, Core, Base, etc).
I was thinking adding in some basic discussion of blocks and the datatypes of REBOL would be in order.
Good work, though, people, who ever you all are.

[edit] Neat
My uncle, who wrote this programming language, talks about it all the time. I wasn't sure if a lot of others knew about it until I saw a full article on it here. =] Nice.

[edit] Rexx Rebol
Hi all, Interesting that my last name is Rebol and we finally made it to the encyclopedia. A new word in the English language. However not that uncommon a name in Slovenia, the host of my cultural background. Being a member of the Rebol clan does give insight into many facets of history quite forgotten or censored such as the root causes of the War in Bosnia. Oh well!!! Perhaps if our numbers increase we can be recognized as a minority and expose some of the darker aspects of history in Eastern Europe.
Živjo, Gd. Rebol! V Sloveniji sem živil za dva leta (Ljubljana).

[edit] NPOV
"The result is an elegant, powerful, yet very practical language borne from his deep understanding of denotational semantics balanced with the need for raw usability.". This, among other things, sounds just too biased. See Wikipedia:Avoid_peacock_terms, WP:NOT. --84.56.54.181 00:16, 13 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] A change
Edited the questioned sentence to avoid the biased style. Hope I didn't make the things worse.

[edit] Too many buzzwords
This article is so full of buzzwords and abstractions that I have no idea what is going on. What is Rebol's sweet spot? Who uses it? How do you write a loop, if you do? The "see also" references seem not at all related, either. 12.206.192.225 (talk) 00:05, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] forth anyone?
i can't help but think it has a rather close relationship with forth, but couldn't find anything about this conjecture. i mean, the words, parse, nearly no syntax, almost only whitespace to separate words, the names of some words e.g. pick, an incredibly small runtime in a single exe... so many things remind me of forth, i'd like to know if anybody investigated the possible connection. too bad i still couldn't really wrap my head around neither, they fascinate me and repel me at the same time (mostly it has to do with readability and encapsulation issues). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.48.131.84 (talk) 21:57, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
