[edit] Tune Up

Starting to go through this article and make it more referenced (from the realmcrafter site) as well as making it more uniform to other game engines listed in Wikipedia. -- Noctrine 23:44, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] It's really not as good as advertised.

When I read this wiki article I bought it right away.

To be honest I was pretty dissapointed. I had random errors popping out of everywhere, and I'll admit the staff are quick at trying to fix your problems but the real problem was that they _didn't_ fix them.

It hasn't functioned well on any of my 4 computers (all of which easily meet system requirements). I'm not a programmer by any means, I thought that you could at least create a functional game with some basic quests and skills but you need to learn a scripting language in the engine which I just can't even learn. Even visual basic is easier!

And there are at least 500 games being created with this right now, all of which look exactly the same. I know it wasn't intended to be a program where you just click "Make WoW clone" but honestly it's definitly not what they advertise themselves as.

  • I haven't really gotten the chance to spend much time with Visual Basic, but the engine is written in Blitz3D and/or Blitzmax one of them not exactly sure. The point its I found it to be exactly how it was advertised. You really can create a basic game right out of the box (it will be amazingly unimpressive but you can do it) The scripting language also seems to be more or less common sense (and clever use of commands). But I digress, this isn't a talk page to discuss the product in question (there are tons of places where members diss Realmcrafter as it is, but it should be noted that it takes above common knowledge in Programming to attempt what this Engine achieves) the talk page is here to talk about the article itself. As such I believe that the Article is true, and while it is somewhat of a stub and it needs to be sourced it is correct. - Noctrine 15:53, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
  • The article could use sourced expansion. I just finished editing out all the marketing BS and unsourced claims a few days back.--Isotope23 15:57, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
    • The difficulty in sourcing the article is that the team behind it has all the information locked up on their forum. So that it can be properly sourced I am going to ask around for Press Releases or something of the sort. - Noctrine 20:28, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
