[edit] Real racing
Unorganized, unregulated, unapproved racing between two or more contestants, has been going on since before written languages. Maybe experts in other fields can comment on the similarities to their specialties. Street racing rules have been in the Talk:Street racing section of Wikipedia for years.
When attempts have been made to show these customs elsewhere in Wikipedia. Organized types committed to written restrictions have removed the suggestion. This posting is for unorganized, unregulated, and unapproved "real racing," mostly between strangers.
At least one winner, one witness.
In no way is this limited to automobiles with motors. These unwritten rules had their roots racing soapbox coasting racers on winding public roads.
[edit] Street roadracing rules
This may be controversial. Nothing here is implied to suggest breaking any laws or operating a motor vehicle in an unsafe manner. Nonetheless these activities take place every day, wherever there are drivers and roads.
Street Road Racing, where not prohibited, involves three simple rules. The role of leader and pursuer may change many times during contention, there can be only one winner.
* 1. The Winner is in front at the finish. * 2. The Leader chooses the course. * 3. The finish is when the Pursuer quits.GT
Unorganized, unregulated, low speed contests between strangers, are probably the most common of all motor sports confrontations. From the first cross continental races, to the last person you prevented from passing. Your use of a motor vehicle in an attempt to out-gain, out-distance, and prevent another vehicle from passing or to arrive someplace first, constitutes a Street Race. You cannot ignore the fact that people bet their lives on winning every day. Victory in all of these cases is covered by these essential rules. -oo0(GoldTrader)0oo- (talk) 19:06, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
