[edit] History
RTI was founded by a group of robotics researchers at Stanford University. In 1995, the company was awarded research contracts from ATP, and in 1998 was named the 16th fastest-growing company in Silicon Valley. In 2003 RTI submitted to the Object Management Group (OMG) a draft for the Data Distribution Service (DDS) standard, which was approved the following year.[1] RTI sold its ScopeTools division to Wind River Systems in 2005.[2] RTI now focuses on real-time middleware and infrastructure.
[edit] Products
RTI's lead product is RTI Data Distribution Service (formerly NDDS), a networking middleware platform that implements a real-time publish/subscribe model and is based on the OMG DDS standard. RTI middleware targets high performance (low latency, high throughput) applications. RTI middleware integrates with databases, Complex Event Processing engines, and graphical visualization and analysis tools. RTI also offers tools for analyzing and debugging distributed real-time systems.
[edit] Customers
Many RTI customers are in the aerospace and defense and financial services industries. RTI also has customers in medical devices, communications, and intelligence. RTI's customers include Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, Boeing, Insitu, Automated Trading Desk, Varian, and the U.S. Military.
