RavenNuke is a web-based automated news publishing and content management system based on PHP and MySQL. The system is fully controlled using a web-based graphical user interface (GUI). RavenNuke is an extensively changed fork of the phpNuke portal system.
The system is currently released as free software under the GNU General Public License. The latest version of the software is freely downloadable from the RavenNuke Support website.
Starting with version 1.0.0, the display of a copyright message on webpages is required according with the GPL license section 2(c) and approved by the Free Software Foundation as explained on the accompanying documentation.
It requires a web server which supports the PHP extension (such as the Apache HTTP Server), as well as an SQL database (such as MySQL, mSQL, PostgreSQL, ODBC, ADABAS, Sybase or InterBase).

[edit] Features of RavenNuke
Cross browser compatibility by virtue of its XHTML 1.0 Transitional and CSS 2.1 compliant code base. The main aim of RavenNuke is to provide a Content Management/Portal System similar in functionality to PHP-Nuke but without the recognised and unfixed security concerns of the code upon which it is based.[1][2] Any extensive security system (Nuke Sentinel)[3] is built in for additional protection. RavenNuke allows webmasters to create a dynamic community-based portal, with automated content, allowing users and editors to post a wide variety of data such as news articles, forum posts, reviews, polls/surveys, calendar events, RSS and ATOM feeds, send out HTML newsletters etc.
Additional third party modules may be quickly and easily added to the RavenNuke system, allowing the webmaster to add many more features. The whole system is maintained by administrators using the web-based graphical user interface and extensive 'groups' management means webmasters can quickly and easily add additional editors/moderators/admins.
RavenNuke is able to support a variety of different languages. It's look and feel can be customized, using the Themeing system, and comes with some fully CSS driven themes to make tailoring it's look so much easier. With some knowledge on PHP, HTML and CSS the results can be very impressive.
[edit] License
RavenNuke is currently distributed for free and licensed under the GNU/GPL license.
