[edit] FCI recognized?
I can't find it here or here...?? Elf | Talk 21:26, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Elf--I thought the national club said it was recognized, but this could be my woefully inadequate knowledge of Spanish at work....Quill 21:30, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, Elf, you're quite right; it's not listed at the FCI site, but at the Spanish kennel club site, http://www.rsce.es/razas.htm it says:
- RATONERO-BODEGUERO ANDALUZ
- ORIGEN: ANDALUCIA, ESPAÑA
- CLASIFICACION F.C.I.: Grupo 3 - Terriers Sección 1: Terriers de talla grande y mediana
- according to the national club, http://www.ratonerobodeguero.com/800/default.htm we have:
- CLASIFICACIÓN: Para los Concursos y/o exposiciones organizadas por la Federación Cinológica Internacional, F.C.I. o la Real Sociedad de Fomento de Razas Caninas en España, Canina Central, se encuentran enclavados en: Grupo 3.- Terriers Sección 1: Terriers de talla grande y mediana

Is it possible that the clubs are simply saying "if it were recognized by FCI, this is the group it would be in"? Without a breed number, it seems only marginally credible, unless FCI has something like AKC's FSS and those breeds are listed elsewhere pending full recognition. - Entirely possible, the thought occurred to me as well. Search me--make an executive decision. Quill 22:28, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Photo
Though a body of all brown, the dog of photo seems to be a Ratonero Bodeguero Andaluz. The explanation attached to the photo reads fehlfarben, which stands for "wrong-colored" in German[1]. May I restore the photo? --Yozakura 04:41, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
- Interesting. I personally like to see dogs that aren't always the show-perfect specimens, so I'd say yes as long as there's a clear caption explaining that. However, I'd also be inclined to put it down in the article rather than in the breed box, since it's obviously so different from what one might expect. Same as one might put a yellow Flat-Coated Retriever in the article but not in the breed box. At least, that's what I think. My only other question is whether the dog's appearance *other* than color is typical of a RA; I'm not positive, but I think it's OK in looking at other web sites for the breed.
