Randy Alan Flores (born July 31, 1975 in Bellflower, California), is a Major League Baseball pitcher. Flores played college baseball at the University of Southern California, and is currently with the St. Louis Cardinals. A career left-hand relief specialist, he has played for the Texas Rangers and Colorado Rockies before signing as a free agent with the Cardinals on November 20, 2003. He made his major league debut on April 23, 2002. Randy is the brother of Ron Flores.
He attended El Rancho HS in Pico Rivera, CA. At the University of Southern California from '94 to '97, he set several pitchng records that still stand as of Oct. 2006. He also earned a BS in Finance from USC.
Flores won a championship ring when the Cardinals won the 2006 World Series, defeating the Detroit Tigers four games to one. Flores appeared in seven games in the 2006 postseason, throwing 5 2/3 innings without giving up an earned run.
Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully said during the May 16th, 2007 game between the Cardinals and the Dodgers that Flores' July 31st birthdate (which puts him one day before the cutoff date for youth baseball leagues) guaranteed that he was always the youngest player at each level. Scully quotes him as saying that it was so disheartening that he actually quit baseball for a couple years around age 11.
