Talk:Rambo: To Hell and Back
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Supposedly, it is going to be based around Rambo settling down in the United States and fighting a group of white supremacists who kidnap his daughter out of racism (Rambo is part Native American). It sounds like a return to the style of the first movie, and we can probably expect less machine gun fire and more use of the survival knife.
I'm excited, I'm going to put a box on the side now that there is more info out--RBalboa June 5

[edit] I don't understand
I don't understand this, will Rambo save his daughter in Arizona AND hunt down Osama in the same movie or is one of those ideas scrapped? --Mailerdaemon 17:11, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- I think the Osama idea was thrown out--Skosem 8 Sept.
-
- That's too bad. The kid that they used in the last movie, the one Rambo gave his momentos to, could have grown up and been an ally to help Rambo. If not hunt Bin Laden, then some top dog terrorist in Afghanistan. Arnabdas 19:12, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Just a small question
Does anyone know what the "very personal reason" Jackie Chan had about declining the roll of a drug dealer? i couldnt find any reference to drugs or dealing in his bio page.
- I don't know why this is "very personnal", what I heard is that he doesn't want to play the bad guy, especially a drug-dealing bad guy, because he wants to be a model for the youngs.
-
- His father was the one who made him promise that he would never play a "bad guy" or a drug user. He came clean in the recent documentary "Traces of a Dragon" (which I saw on Australian TV) and admitted that Jackie's mother and he had been involved in opium trafficking during the Chinese Civil War.

-
- In the "Jackie Chan : My Story" documentary, this abovegiven statement is confirmed. Reportedly, his father told him never to have anything do with drugs, gambling or triads.
[edit] In the Serpent's Eye
- This has now been confirmed as the subtitle in numerous press reports. Simply google news "Rambo IV: In the Serpent's Eye" and see. -- Freemarket 00:19, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Pearl of The Cobra
- Sylvester Stallone revealed in an online interview that Rambo IV has been retitled Rambo IV: Pearl of The Cobra[1].Gangrel76547 19:47, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Uncited content
Is there anything salvageable from the proposed ideas part of the article? Most of it seems to be uncited Alastairward 00:37, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] John Rambo
Yet another title switch from Sly, he mentioned in a recent interview on Australian television that "John Rambo" is the new title they're running with, notably similar to "Rocky Balboa". Couldn't find any online sources for reference, though. Goroliath
- Here's an online article talking about it.[2] It looks like Sly loves to create redirects for this article. --Nehrams2020 02:47, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Confused
The article is a bit confusing. Maybe all the changes/development/etc. could be lumped together in a "history" or "pre-production" section, and each significant change labeled in historical order? Shrumster 08:12, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Poster
The "teaser" poster is fan art, it nearly kind of threw me, so it should be removed.89.242.240.97 15:59, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- I was coming on here to say the same thing. It is not an official poster. Mcflytrap 15:26, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
It should be removed. If nobody does today I will. What would happen if every film in development had fan art as the initial poster? Whataboutbob 16:52, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
- Probably nothing important. --Rev Prez 15:24, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Plot update needed
I think the plot needs to be updated. Based on a recent trailer, it appears that Rambo does not go with the missionaries initially, but after he hears that they have not returned he decided to go into Burma to look for them.
I'm new to Wikipedia, and I'm not too confident on editing stuff yet, but I do have a link to the script which seems to go along pretty well with the trailer. http://files-upload.com/files/489368/rambo.pdf 139.177.224.71 02:19, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Deleted the full length trailer link
Deleted the full length trailer link, trailer had been removed from the site in question. It was a youtube hosted video that was no longer accessible.

[edit] Plot NPOV
The plot section is not marked as fictional and is definatly making a very political statement about burma that could be mistaken for facts, needs a disclaimer or a rewrite Proton 17:15, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
- What would you make about the recent statements made by Stallone? They've seen first-hand the aftermath of the Saffron protests. According to them, what they've just seen seems to be dead on to a regular Rambo script. Ow. 189.180.69.197 05:19, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Recent events!
Based on recent events involving the protests in myanmar (Oct 2007) and subsequent clampdowns by the military, is the storyline going to change? I can imagine it will be quite insensitive to burmese people local and overseas (and I can imagine it will definitely be banned in myanmar) and the run of the story will actually be quite ironic given the circumstances. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Squiggle (talk • contribs) 05:37, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Title change
On October 12 the film had its title changed on the Lionsgate Publicity site to Rambo: To Hell and Back. The same day Aintitcool.com reported [3] that the change was undone as reflected by the Lionsgate Publicity site which now lists the original title, John Rambo, again. --Kineticpast 00:33, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
