Ramsey House (Durham University)

Ramsey House is a Grade II listed building owned by St Chad's College, one of the constituent colleges of the University of Durham. Ramsey House, now used primarily for undergraduate accommodation, is named for Arthur Michael Ramsey, the 100th Archbishop of Canterbury who was once resident in Ramsey House. He was also a member of the Governing Council for the College.

For many decades, Ramsey House was the home of successive College Principals, although this tradition has been abandoned and the house given over to student accommodation. There are now seven student rooms and a self-contained flat, which is typically home to the artist-in-residence of St Chad's College. The Middle Common Room of the College is also located on the ground floor of Ramsey House.

Currently there are ten freshers living in the accommodation. On the top floor resides Elizabeth Dingle, Lucy Floyd, Jack Kerr and Robert Butler. The first floor includes John Richardson, Thomas Welch, Naomi Macintosh and Stephanie Pun. Finally, out of the freshers living in the building, only two live in the self-contained flat: Rachael Andrews and Emma Wong. Three Third Years live in single accommodation also in Ramsey House.

Elizabeth Dingle and Naomi Macintosh deserve merit for narrowly missing out on winning the esteemed Novice Cup. Also Thomas Welch reached the final of the Novice Plate only to miss out by a small margin.
