Ramon Ortiz (baseball coach)

Ramon Ortiz is a Minor League Baseball coach for the Gulf Coast Dodgers.

Ortiz played five seasons as an outfielder in the farms systems of the Montreal Expos and Minnesota Twins.

He started his coaching career at the Central University of Venezuela in 1983. He remained with the college through 1985. He then spent nine seasons (1987-95) as a coach in the St. Louis Cardinals organization, followed by a three season stint in the New York Yankees organization (1996-98). From 1999-2002 he coached the Tampa Bay Devil Rays single-A team, the Hudson Valley Renegades and then spent 2003-2004 with the Bakersfield Blaze. He spent 2005 with the Gulf Coast Dodgers and 2006 with the Vero Beach Dodgers.

In 2007, he serves as the hitting instructor for the Gulf Coast Dodgers.
