Ralph Raccoon is a major character in the animated series The Raccoons and its preceding specials. He was voiced by Bob Dermer in these aforementioned specials as well as every episode of the series. [1].
[edit] Character
In the show, Ralph is a character full of ambition and ingenuity as he is the editor of the Evergreen Standard while Melissa and Bert work under him. Ralph is always seen wearing a white pilot's scarf as in the episode Blast From the Past, he reveals to Melissa that his ancestors were at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina when the famed Wright Brothers first took flight. Nevertheless, in this episode, it is revealed that Ralph has an aversion toward flying so Melissa has to fly a plane in order to save Bert and Cedric from certain danger.[2]. Additionally, because of his lack of daring exploits he deems himself as a loser at times. In the episode The Sky Is the Limit, he feels ashamed when Melissa's old friend, Troy Malone, a debonair pilot returns to the forest and allegedly sweeps Melissa off her feet. [3]. Nevertheless, at the end of the episode, Melissa reconfirms her love for Ralph. At times, Ralph is also dictatorial and hardly nice, as was documented in the episode, The Paper Chase, [4]. Nevertheless, as is customary with humans who love each other, after Melissa cools off from a spat with Ralph, she, Bert and Schaeffer help Ralph out in his time of need. However, he has numerous strengths as well, as he is perhaps the most practical of the characters in the series and refuses to give into pressure from Cyril Sneer when the tycoon does controversial or irrational things in the forest.
